Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television reporter, commentator and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from the University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She was a reporter for the CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. She was promoted to Washington general correspondent for NBC News two years later. From 1981 onwards she began covering the White House. In 1988 she was named head of the congressional reporters. She was made Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV show Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell participated on a panel during the debates in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her role in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering in the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable news stories throughout time, including budget reform, tax reform and The Iran Contra saga. She travelled frequently along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
